THE LOLLIPOP TREES
I disegni in mostra sugli alberi rossi rappresentano i sogni dei bambini di Monopoli coinvolti nella residenza d’artista del fotografo Jan von Holleben.
Per la sua IX edizione PhEST si concentra sul tema del Sogno, raccontato attraverso più di trenta mostre allestite nelle numerose sedi espositive del festival. Anche la residenza d’artista di fotografia ha abbracciato il tema.
Il progetto, portato a termine a maggio in residenza d’artista, ha visto il coinvolgimento di 800 bambini che frequentano la scuola primaria in quattro istituti comprensivi della città. Ai bambini è stato chiesto di descrivere e disegnare un loro sogno. Una selezione di questi sogni è stata tradotta in immagini fotografiche dal fotografo tedesco Jan von Holleben con la partecipazione di oltre 100 bambini. Gli scatti dell’artista sono esposti al Porto Vecchio di Monopoli per tutta la durata del festival nella mostra All Humans Be Cats.
I disegni originali dei bambini coinvolti nel progetto sono raccolto qui nella sede centrale del festival con il titolo The Lollipop Trees.

The drawings on display on the red trees represent the dreams of the children of Monopoli involved in the artist residency of photographer Jan von Holleben.
For its IX edition PhEST focuses on the theme of the Dream, told through more than thirty exhibitions set up in the numerous venues of the festival. The photography artist residency also embraced the theme.
The project, completed in May as an artist-in-residence, involved 800 children attending primary school in four comprehensive schools in the city. The children were asked to describe and draw a dream of theirs. A selection of these dreams was translated into photographic images by the German photographer Jan von Holleben with the participation of over 100 children. The artist's shots are exhibited at the Porto Vecchio of Monopoli for the entire duration of the festival in the exhibition “All Humans Be Cats.”
The original drawings of the children involved in the project are collected here in the festival headquarters under the title “The Lollipop Trees.”
We thank all the children who shared their dreams with us and the teachers, who followed the project with care, dedication and enthusiasm.
