FURNISHING THE SACRED

La serie Furnishing the Sacred (arredando il sacro) racconta l’immaginario delle comunità cristiane contemporanee attraverso gli ambienti dell’immersione battesimale. 

Questo progetto mette in evidenza la scala umana del fenomeno e mostra un aspetto della religione che è continuamente formato e creato dagli umani. Le immagini sono costruite in maniera simile per enfatizzare le influenze e abitudini culturali dello spettatore.

Boglárka Éva Zellei (1993, Budapest, Ungheria) è una fotografa con base a Budapest. Ha studiato fotografia all’Università di Ka-posvár e ottenuto un master all’Università di Arte e Design “Moholy-Nagy,” a Budapest. Nel suo lavoro esplora la presenza della spiritualità e della religione nella società contemporanea e nella sua vita personale.

The series is “Furnishing the Sacred” deals with the visual language of contemporary Christian communities through the environments of immersion baptism. The project is focusing on this human scale and shows the side of religion which is continuously formed and built by humans. The images are constructed in a similar way to emphasize the viewer’s own cultural habits and reflections. As the environment changes around the figures we can observe how it shapes our visual concepts of religion and the sacred.

Boglárka Éva Zellei (1993, Budapest, Hungary) is a photographer based in Budapest. She studied photography at the University of Ka-posvár and received her MS at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest. In her works she examines the presence of spirituality and religion in contemporary society and her personal life.
